The Ukrainian Counteroffensive: Risks and Opportunities
Carl Scott, CBE AFC FRAeS, served as a pilot in the Royal Air Force, departing the Service in 2016 as an Air Commodore, having spent 2011 to 2016 in the Russian Federation as the UK Defense Attaché. He was decorated with the Air Force Cross for gallantry and made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire for his contribution to the conversation on Russia. He also holds the French National Defense Medal, Echelon D’Or. He has served on operations in Northern Ireland, the Balkans, Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan and is qualified as a Russian interpreter, Helicopter Tactics Instructor, NBC Warfare instructor, Electronic Warfare Instructor, Joint Warfare Planner, Parachutist and Intelligence Officer.

Yuri M. Zhukov is an Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and a Research Associate Professor with the Center for Political Studies at the Institute for Social Research. He holds a Ph.D. from the Department of Government at Harvard University. Zhukov's research focuses on the quantitative study of political violence and armed conflict. Zhukov is the developer and maintainer of VIINA (https://github.com/zhukovyuri/VIINA), a near-real time violent event and territorial control tracking system for Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
